Description
This motorcycle tour is designed to give the novice, intermediate, or experienced bike rider a lifetime adventure that combines the nostalgia of riding a Royal Enfield motorcycle with a taste of South Africa’s history, a touch of safari, diverse cultures, unique geology, breathtaking scenery, and much more. Our tour will traverse landscapes that vary from the lush Cape winelands to the high mountains, wide open plains of the Karoo to the Kalahari bushveld – we will travel “off of the beaten track” but will visit well known landmarks, remote communities, and some long forgotten historic sites of great significance.
Although not specifically a history tour, our theme is to follow in the wagon tracks of the early diamond prospectors and the later 1899 British Army’s advance to relieve the siege of Kimberley.
Our daily rides will be easily achievable and will include a combination of road surfaces, smooth asphalt, hard packed gravel district roads, and even short sections of jeep track. The emphasis is on enjoying the riding, the surroundings, the excursions, and comfort that each night-stop provides.
The tour requires a certain amount of flexibility and an adventurous mentality. Road, weather, and unforeseen conditions will affect our route and no two tours are ever the same – we should expect the unexpected and absorb the adventure. We will ride on nine days with a daily average of just under 200km’s.
